 Update on the Covid 19 situation in St. Vincent and the Grenadines

The Covid 19 situation in St. Vincent and the Grenadines has evolved from occasional imported 

cases for most of 2020 to local community spread in January 2021. This has possibly happened 

through various means, such as visits to people in quarantine, people not following the 

quarantine rules, contact with infected persons upon entry in the country or staff in "bubble" 

quarantine accommodation coming in contact with infected persons.

As of January 18th 2021, there are 375 active cases, most of which are local. These cases are 

discovered through contact tracing and persons with flu-like symptoms coming to health centers 

for tests.

There are 2 Covid 19 related deaths; both persons had comorbidities.

The Ministry of Health has just disclosed the locations where cases have occurred without providing numbers except that the clinic in Pembroke has the most positive tests. This clinic covers the South-Western part of St. Vincent. However, cases are occurring throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
